2021 BAFTA Games Awards Winners

The 2021 British Academy Games Awards just celebrated the very best video games of 2020 through an online ceremony on march 25th. Several movie and game industry celebrities like Hideo Kojima, Asa Butterfiel and Tim Schafer joined the gala and presented some of the awards.

The great winner of the night was Hades, the latest videogame from Supergiant Games, with a total of five awards: Artistic Achievement, Best Game, Game Design, Narrative, and Performer in a Supporting Role for Logan Cunningham.

Just below Hades, The Last of Us Part 2, one of the most controversial games of 2020, won three awards: Animation, Performer in a Leading Role for Laura Bailey and the only accolade voted by the public EE Game of the Year. It’s worth mentioning that The Last of Us Part 2 was nominated for 14 BAFTA awards, breaking the record for the most nominated game.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Sackboy: A Big Adventure each won two awards, with the Nintendo game taking home Game Beyond Entertainment and Multiplayer. The PlayStation exclusive title received the awards for British Game and Family.

For her efforts and achievements in the game development industry, Media Molecule’s studio director, Siobhan Reddy, received the highest honor the BAFTA Academy can bestow: The Fellowship award.
